Oregano Oil
Description:
Oregano oil is acquired from oregano, scientifically known as Origanum vulgare belongs to Lamiaceae family. Oregano herb is hardy, bushy perennial herb that is native to Europe; it grows up to 35 inches in height, having dark green leaves that are 2 to 3 cm long. Oregano has purple flowers and spade shaped, olive green leaves.
Extraction:
Oregano oil is extracted from dried flowers and leaves of oregano plant through steam distillation method.
Composition:
Oregano plant is mainly constitutes of carvacrol, thymol, cymene, caryophyllene, pinene, bisbolene, linalool, borneol, geranyl acetate, linalyl acetate and terpinene.
Properties:
Oregano oil is yellow red to dark brownish in colour with a strong, pungent &spicy odor.
Blending:
Oregano oil is well blends with other essential oils such as lavender, rosemary, bergamot, chamomile, cypress, cedar wood, tea tree and eucalyptus oil.
Uses:
- It has expectorant quality; eliminates uncomfortable buildups of mucus and phlegm in respiratory tracts & sinuses, .
- It soothes inflammation, internal or external, it reduces redness and irritation, relieve pain that might be related with arthritis or injury.
- It acts as antibacterial as it protects from infections of virus, bacterial and fungal infections, and issues like food poisoning as well as protects from fungal infections.
